Syfy Orders 'Booster Gold' Pilot

DC's hero of the future, Booster Gold, will star in an hour-long pilot written by Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe, Warehouse 13). Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern) will executive produce the action/drama pilot for Syfy. Booster has been popular since he was created by Dan Jurgens in 1986, and he enjoyed several years of popularity as the star of a solo series and as a member of the Justice League International. Booster saw a huge resurgence in the aftermath of Infinite Crisis as the breakout star of 52, leading to a second wave of popularity that only grew when he made an appearance in the final season of Smallville. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Booster Gold pilot will be a familiar story to fans of the character, as it adheres to the characters origins in the comics:

The story will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.
