Long-Lost, Self-Deprecating Serling Video Surfaces
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 7:31AM |
Matt Sager A must-see for fans of Serling, creator of The Twilight Zone and king of science fiction and - in spite of his monumental contributions to modern storytelling - astonishingly humble.
In light of how many hacks are high on their own egos and are very comfortable describing themselves as masters of genre fiction, comics, etc. in our era of arrogance and style over substance, it's remarkable to see that the man whose imagination launched a thousand rip-offs and re-definted sci-fi for the latter half of the twentieth century and beyond, seems to think very little of his own work.
But that's the mark of a master - never satisfied, never content to rest on their laurels and bask in praise and adulation.
You don't see a whole lot of that these days.
Mostly you see variant covers and action figures.
